Ensuring Reliability Through Comprehensive Harness Testing

A major mining contractor recently engaged Allplant after experiencing intermittent faults across several machines fitted with a custom wiring harness supplied by another vendor. The issue only appeared under vibration and load, making diagnosis on-site time-consuming and costly.

When the harnesses arrived at our workshop, our team ran them through Allplant’s in-house test machine, performing full cross-point verification and resistance checking across every circuit. This process quickly identified several high-resistance paths and misaligned pin terminations that would not have been detected by a basic continuity check.

Every wiring harness manufactured by Allplant—whether a bespoke design or a remanufactured OEM wiring harness—is subjected to the same rigorous testing process. Each West Australian made wiring harness is also supplied with a detailed test report confirming it has passed all electrical integrity checks. In this case, our testing prevented repeated breakdowns, reduced diagnostic downtime, and provided the client with confidence that the harnesses were compliant, reliable, and site-ready.

This case highlights the critical importance of thorough electrical testing and showcases how our in-house capabilities safeguard machine reliability by reducing downtime in demanding mining environments.
